Parking and Towing Information- Townhomes

NEW CEDAR ACRES PARKING AND TOWING POLICY (EFFECTIVE AUGUST 2020) – OVERVIEW AND NOTES

The Cedar Acres Association board adopted an updated parking and towing policy at the February 4, 2020 special meeting. The updated policy provides two reserved parking spots per townhome. Parking in the single-home family section of Cedar Acres will remain the same.

The board has created new maps assigning two parking spots to each unit in the Cedar Acres townhome section.

When creating the maps, the board reviewed all existing parking assignments and made it a priority to assign spots that are as convenient as possible for each townhome.

Please keep in mind the following:

  • You may use your reserved spaces for your own cars or for your visitors. Each space is for only one four-wheeled vehicle (or no more than two two-wheel vehicles).

  • The new spots will indicate that they are reserved, and will have special numbers (e.g., 100 and 101). For security purposes, the code will not be your house number. You should have received your parking number assignments by mail. If you haven't, or need to receive that information again, please contact the Cedar Acres board at ddowns@dhbader.com.

  • There are eight (8) unreserved spaces marked "Visitor 1" through "Visitor 8." These spaces exist in the section of Cedar Wood Drive farthest from the community entrance.

  • Keep in mind that street parking is also available on Cedar Wood Drive, Tree Swallow Court, Hilltop Road, Greenview Way, and Terrier Court.

  • This new parking arrangement will fully succeed with neighborliness and civility. For example, homeowners who own one car should make their second spot available to neighbors with more than two cars whenever practicable. Another neighborly idea is when homeowners are going out of town, they could offer their reserved spot(s) to neighbors with more than two cars for the time period they will be away from home. We urge neighbors to be communicative, generous and flexible when it comes to these new reserved spaces. Courtesy should be paramount when addressing parking issues with your neighbors.

  • In advance of a forecasted snowstorm, the homeowners’ board recommends that any vehicles using street parking on Cedar Wood Drive should be parked on the south side of CWD, in the direction facing towards the exit of the community. This will help snow-removal vehicles enter and exit, and will also make it easier for street-parked vehicles to leave the community when it is safe to do so.

  • Paladin Impound & Towing LLC has been selected as the towing company that will serve our community.

  • In August 2020, homeowners were mailed a waiver form that homeowners may fill out and return to the board if you would like the ability to call the towing company in the event an unauthorized vehicle is in your parking space. Please note that this ability is only available for homeowners, not renters. If interested in this capability, please sign and return the waiver. If you are a homeowner who needs another copy of the waiver, please contact Sharmayne Yates of DH Bader at syates@dhbader.com

  • Please use towing as an option of last resort, after all other options are exhausted. Other options include placing notes on cars that are in your spot to indicate that it is a reserved space or communicating with those individuals who park in your reserved spot to ask them to move. In the event that you need to call the towing service, we will need to have received a signed copy of the waiver form in this letter. You must be present at the time of the towing. You’ll need to show the towing company, Paladin Impound and Recovery, proof that you live in the address associated with the reserved spot, and sign a tow slip to authorize the removal of the vehicle in accordance with Howard County law. For any questions, please contact the Cedar Acres homeowners board at ddowns@dhbader.com.
